ALLGard Panels are effective in a wide range of blast and fireball events. The compression of the filler material removes most of the energy from incoming shock waves and suppresses shock wave reflections. It also cools impinging fireballs and explosion gases. All this happens to mitigate blasts regardless of intensity or explosive type.
ALLGard Panels substantially reduce the momentum transfer, known as ‘impulse,’ which is the most damaging to buildings, revetments, aircraft, and vehicles subjected to landmines or IEDs.
Sympathetic detonation results when one explosion sets off other explosives the next in a chain reaction. It is caused by an impinging of a shock wave or by the impact of a primary or secondary fragment from detonating adjacent munitions. ALLGard Panels prevent this chain reaction of mass detonations and chain reaction explosions. This is essential in any application that involves shipment and/or storage of munitions, such as magazines aboard naval vessels, airfields, and ordnance shipping. ALLGard Panels’ double protection against explosions and projectile penetration also prevents or reduces secondary fragmentation that can propagate explosions.
Passive mitigation systems can be used in both confined and unconfined spaces. ALLGard Panels do not need sensors or power.
The ballistic stopping properties of ALLGard Panels come from unique composition of the panel sandwich. This ballistic penetration resistance is critical for reducing the effects of explosive fragmentation and secondary fragment AND stops penetration of bullets from most small arms. ALLGard Panels can resist penetration by .30-06 rifle bullets without significant effect on their blast mitigation properties.
ALLGard Panels quench explosive blast environments, preventing the ignition of other combustible materials in the hot zone. This quenching effect also reduces quasi-static pressure in confined space blasts, which is generally the most destructive mechanism in event like this.
ALLGard Panels’ low density makes it a practical alternative to heavy armor plating in a wide range of applications, from buildings to bunkers, from shipboard to aircraft. Its light weight also makes it easy to handle and install. No heavy equipment or specialized shipping required.
ALLGard Panels can withstand nearly all industrial, maritime, and weather conditions. Its effectiveness is unaffected by extreme weather conditions. And it can tolerate interference by vandals and normal environmental wear and tear without significantly reducing its effectiveness. Holes, tears, and partial crushing causes only minor performance degradation. Unless extensively damaged, ALLGard Panels can function effectively in the field over and over. And it’s easily patchable.

Cook Off refers to the initiation of a unit of ammunition or explosive in the event of fires or slower but sustained heating. Storing explosives in enclosures made with ALLGard Panels will prevent the ordnance from reaching a temperature where it initiates automatically.
