ALLGard Panels incorporate fiber glass laminate ballistic defense technology to reduce the threat from small arms fire and explosive blast fragmentation. Along with the blast mitigation technology of ALLGard Panels, this provides a double line of defense for your personnel and assets.
Just like “blast-proof”, “100% bullet-proof” does not exist. There is always a more powerful projectile. Just like traditional armor, the size and power of a bullet determines how thick the armor must be to prevent penetration.
Most solid building materials shatter when struck by a bullet. However, projectile-resistant materials are designed to withstand one or more impacts from bullets or explosive blast fragments.
These materials are constructed in a process called lamination. Lamination creates numerous thin layers of various materials, from polycarbonate in bullet-resistant glass, for example, to Kevlar™ in body armor, to fiberglass in fixed construction panels.
When the surface of the laminate is struck by a bullet, the energy of the bullet is dispersed and dampened through the numerous layers. These layers absorb and disperse the impact energy that is transmitted to the material from the bullet, causing the bullet to deform or “mushroom”. This mushrooming effect further halts the projectile’s advance through the material.
Unlike blast mitigation technology, projectile defense requires more thickness to stop more powerful projectiles.
ALLGard Panels are Unique
Our products are unique in the marketplace for combine both ballistic and explosive defense technology.
Our minimum level of ballistic defense will stop a .30-06 bullet at thirty yards.
The ballistic defense properties of ALLGard panels are designed to work in tandem with the blast mitigation properties, creating a versatile defense system that can protect your personnel and assets from a variety of threat types, from small-arms fire to IEDs.
